HSAA creates teams at both the High School (Varsity & JV) and Middle School (7th grade & 8th grade) levels. 6th graders may try out for the MS teams   High School fall tryouts / practices will begin in September. Workouts will continue throughout the fall.  All players interested in playing or trying out for the high school teams should attend these workouts.  Contact Jesse Coon (Baseball Contacts) if there is a conflict. Middle School fall tryouts will start  in late September.  After tryouts, practices will continue into October/November for Middle School and into November/December for High School.

Requirements for Tryouts:  Complete the online registration process (Registration Process).  Bring the following to the parent/player information meeting or to the first tryout:

1. a current physical (
HSAA Physical Evaluation Form)
2. a signed copy of the HSAA Athletic Release Form (

3. a signed PSO Waiver (parent signs unless player is 18) - new players only (have these on file from last spring)  (PSO Waiver)
4. a birth certificate
5. the tryout fee ($100 for High School and $50 for Middle School).  Please make checks payable to HSAA.

These items are updated in late August  and can be mailed  or scanned/emailed to the Baseball Administrator (
Contact Us).

A player cannot go on the field without turning in a signed PSO Waiver, an  HSAA Athletic Release , and a copy of his Physical.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

Please read carefully the Eligibility Requirements (HSAA Eligibility Rules).  If you have questions about whether you qualify as a “homeschooler," please contact one of the head coaches or the commissioner.

SEASON

Spring practices begin in early January with games typically scheduled February through April (High school scrimmages/games start in January).  The Varsity team concludes the spring season with the Homeschool World Series in Florida (winning 6 times in the tournament's 20-year history).  HSAA schedules games against area private schools (TAPPS and SPC) as well as a few public schools and other homeschool teams from other cities.  HSAA does not create or sponsor summer/fall teams.  In the past, players from HSAA teams have connected to form summer/fall teams, but HSAA does not involve itself in this process.

PROGRAM COSTS

Program fees pay for most season costs, including some uniform items.  (Tryout fees are separate from player fees.) A fund raiser will take place in the fall to help offset additional costs for facilities and other expenses as well as help with uniform fees.  Any travel-related expenses to out of town tournaments are an additional cost.

QUALITY OF PLAY

This is competitive baseball, with high school substitution rules.   Unlike recreational programs, there is no guarantee of playing time or position.  Playing time will be based on skill-sets, talent, ability, performance, and attitude toward your teammates and others. However, HSAA is not a win-at-all-cost organization. Our goal is to provide a high quality, balanced program where talented athletes can grow physically and spiritually and where Jesus Christ is honored in all respects.
COACHES

HSAA baseball coaches are volunteers.  Parents may be asked to help provide logistical support.  If you feel you have a skill that you could use to help the program, please let us know.  Also, our coaches have full-time jobs and are taking personal time from their families to support our program.  Please remember this, and stay flexible.  In a nutshell, we stress to our players that all we do reflects who we are in Christ. We expect our athletes (and families) to exhibit Christ-like behavior in all interactions with our coaching staff, opponents, and umpires (HSAA Expectations ).
